High School Programs

Entrepreneurship

High school is where ideas start to become direction. JA South Africa’s secondary school programs help learners move beyond theory by building practical skills through entrepreneurship, financial-health learning, career exploration, and experiential problem-solving.

Company Program

GRADE 10 -11

The JA Company Program is our flagship program that is a 33-hour, 12-week intensive entrepreneurship program. Formerly known as JA Enterprise Program, the Company Program offers learners the opportunity to learn how to move a business idea from concept to reality and get hands-on experience with fun, real world business and entrepreneurship activities. The Company program equips young people with practical skills to enter the workforce or start their own businesses.

Top-performing teams advance to the prestigious JA Company of the Year (COY) Competition, with the national winners representing South Africa at the regional finals.

Be Entrepreneurial

This is a 12-hour program for grades 8-9 learners that introduces them to entrepreneurship, equipping learners with the skills to write a business plan.

It supplements the academic curriculum and prepares students for school market days, encouraging them to explore entrepreneurial ventures while still in high school.

School Company Club

GRADE 10 - 11

The JA School Company Clubs allow learners to continue developing the businesses they started during the JA Company Programs. The clubs run after the program ends and give learners a chance to keep learning through real business experience.

These clubs support the growth of learner-run businesses, encourage peer learning and independent decision-making, and help sustain entrepreneurship programs in schools. Selected program graduates are invited to join based on their performance, availability and commitment to continued development.

My Money Biz (MMBiz)

My Money Biz gives learners grade 8 - 12 the tools to manage money with confidence. They learn the essentials of saving and budgeting, understand assets and liabilities, and explore how the economy impacts their finances. Learners also gain practical knowledge in investing, borrowing, insurance, and building a clear financial strategy.

They put what they learn into action by creating personal budgets and setting realistic savings goals so they can take control of their money and plan for the future they want.

Discover Your Career (DYC)

GRADE 10 -11

Through the Discover Your Career (DYC) program, students explore different career options, learn which subjects support those paths, and gain insight into themselves to better understand which careers align with their personality traits.

During the program, students complete an online personality and thinking styles assessment and receive personalized feedback, helping them connect their strengths and preferences to suitable career options.

By the end of the program, students have a clearer understanding of who they are, the career path they want to pursue, and the subjects they need to achieve their goals.

JA STEM2D Innovation Camp

The JA STEM2D Innovation Camp is a one day program aimed at grades 10– 12 learners. The Camp seeks to raise awareness of career opportunities in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, Manufacturing, and Design (STEM2D).

Through a team-based challenge, students develop problem-solving, teamwork, and public speaking skills.

Success Skills

GRADE 10 - 11

JA Success Skills is designed to enhance your understanding, abilities, and individual attributes essential for excelling in academics, your professional journey, and society.

Participants are exposed to real-world challenges, promoting critical thinking, decision-making, and problem-solving capabilities.
