Strengthening A Global Network Of Impact

The challenges facing young people may differ from one country to another, but the goal remains remarkably consistent.

Across the world, educators, partners, and youth development organizations are working toward the same outcome: equipping young people with the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to succeed in an increasingly complex world.

One of the greatest strengths of the Junior Achievement network lies in its ability to learn from one another. By sharing ideas, experiences, and best practices across countries, local organizations are able to strengthen their impact while remaining responsive to the unique needs of the communities they serve.

This spirit of collaboration was reflected in a recent visit to the JA South Africa offices by Kesha Cohran-Ivy, Chief Academic Officer at Junior Achievement Memphis and the Mid South.

Hosted by the Executive Director, Nelo P. Spies and Program Manager, Bonga Khumalo, the visit created an opportunity for meaningful conversations about the similarities and differences that shape youth development across South Africa and the United States.

The discussions explored how culture, education systems, and community contexts influence the design and delivery of JA programs while reinforcing the shared principles that unite the global JA network.

Beyond exchanging ideas, the visit highlighted the value of learning from different perspectives. Every conversation provided an opportunity to reflect on innovative approaches, strengthen existing practices, and identify new ways of supporting young people as they prepare for the future.

As education and the world of work continue to evolve, collaboration across borders has become increasingly important. Organizations that are willing to share knowledge and learn from one another are better positioned to respond to emerging challenges and expand opportunities for the young people they serve.

For JA South Africa, the visit reaffirmed that meaningful impact extends beyond national borders. It is strengthened through relationships, shared learning, and a collective commitment to empowering the next generation.
